ホームディレクトリ†

ホームディレクトリの中のフォルダ名が日本語になっています。
コンソールで使うことが多いので、毎回日本語は入れてられないので、英語名になおします。

コンソールから下記を入力すると、設定が書き換わるとともに、ディレクトリ名も英語名に書き換わります。*1

$ LANG=C xdg-user-dirs-gtk-update

この操作はインストール後に一番最初にしておいた方がよいです。
元ディレクトリにファイルが入っていると、元ディレクトリはそのまま残って、英語名のディレクトリが作られます。

sudo†

sudoが使えるように、現在ログオンしているユーザを設定に追加します。*2

$ su -
# visudo
  • 修正前 
    ...
# User privilege specification
root    ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL
...
  • 修正後 
    ...
# User privilege specification
root    ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL
ユーザ名 ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL

NTP†

デスクトップの上段にある時計をクリックすると、時計のシステム設定が開いて、ネットワークとの同期ができるような設定がありますが、どうやらこれだけでは同期ができないようです。
おとなしくNTPの設定をします。

  • 1.まずは元設定のバックアップを作ります。 
    $ su -
# apt-get install ntp
# cd /etc
# cp -p ntp.conf ntp.conf.org
  • 2.設定を修正します。
  • 修正前 
    ...
# You do need to talk to an NTP server or two (or three).
#server ntp.your-provider.example

# pool.ntp.org maps to about 1000 low-stratum NTP servers.  Your server will
# pick a different set every time it starts up.  Please consider joining the
# pool: <http://www.pool.ntp.org/join.html>

server 0.debian.pool.ntp.org iburst
server 1.debian.pool.ntp.org iburst

  • 修正後

インターネットマルチフィード社、 独立行政法人情報通信研究機構、 Ring Server Project の３カ所を登録しています。

登録するＮＴＰサーバは、こちらのサイト「http://wiki.nothing.sh/page/NTP」を参考にしました。
ネットワーク的に近いところが良いようですので、さらに自分の使っているプロバイダのＮＴＰサーバも登録しています。（上記設定例からは省略しました）

  • 3.ntpdを再起動 
    # /etc/init.d/ntp restart
[ ok ] Stopping NTP server: ntpd.
[ ok ] Starting NTP server: ntpd.
  • 4.同期状況を確認*3 
    $ ntpq -p

無線LAN†

DebianのWikiを参考にしました。

  • 1.まずは元設定のバックアップを作ります。

# cp -p sources.list sources.list.org
  • 2.設定を修正します。

「contrib non-free」の文字を追加します。

  • 3.firmware-iwlwifiパッケージのインストール 
    # apt-get update
# apt-get install firmware-iwlwifi

パッケージリストをアップデートしてからインストールします。

  • 4.デバイスを認識する 
    # modprobe -r iwlwifi ; modprobe iwlwifi

再起動してもいいですけど。
あとはデスクトップのシステム設定から、無線LANの設定をします。
といっても、「有効」にしてパスフレーズを入れればつながります。

ネットワークプリンタ†

使用しているプリンタは、Brother DCP-7065DN です。
幸い、ブラザー社からLinux向けのドライバが出ているので、そちらを使いつつ、
プリンタデーモンの「CUPS」の設定をします。

  • brother-udev-rule-type1-1.0.0-1.all.deb
  • cupswrapperDCP7065DN-2.0.4-2.i386.deb
  • dcp7065dnlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.deb*4
  • 2.パッケージのインストール 
    # dpkg -i brother-udev-rule-type1-1.0.0-1.all.deb
# dpkg -i cupswrapperDCP7065DN-2.0.4-2.i386.deb
# dpkg -i dcp7065dnlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.deb
  • 3.CUPSの設定*5
  1. ブラウザから、http://localhost:631/ にアクセス。
  2. 「管理」ページに移動
  3. 「プリンターの追加」ボタンを押す
  4. 「その他のネットワークプリンタ」→「LPD/LPR ホストまたはプリンタ」を選択して、次に進む
  5. 「接続」に以下を設定して、次に進む*6 
    lpd://192.168.x.x/binary_p1
  6. 「名前（例：Brother_DCP-7050DN）」「説明（例：ネットワークプリンタ）」「場所（例：空白）」を入力して、次に進む
  7. 「メーカー（例：Brother）」と「モデル（例：DCP7065DN for CUPS）」を、プリンタに合わせて設定して、次に進む*7

以上で設定完了です。

「プリンター」ページに移って、登録したキュー名（ここでは Brother_DCP-7050DN）を選択。
「メンテナンス」のコンボボックスから「テストページの印刷」をすると、印刷できます。

*6 DCP-7065DN本体にブラウザでアクセスすると、「binary_p1」をはじめとしたキュー名が解ります。ほかにWindowsPCからも接続していれば、プリンタのプロパティの内容も参考になります。
*7 モデルに「DCP7065DN for CUPS」が現れないときは、このページを何回かアクセスし直します。何で出てこないんだろう・・・
